NMIMS Mumbai Admission 2026: Step by Step Process
Step 1 — Check eligibility
- Generally: a recognized bachelor’s degree (minimum % as per programme) — check the SBM eligibility page for exact cutoffs and any programme-specific conditions.
Step 2 — Register for NMAT by GMAC (create GMAC ID)
- Go to the NMAT registration portal and create your GMAC account, fill profile, pay the NMAT fee and schedule your test slot in the exam window. NMAT is administered online in a flexible window. (Dates and scheduling windows are announced on mba.com / NMAT site).
Step 3 — Complete NMIMS (SBM) application
- After you have your GMAC/NMAT registration number, visit the NMIMS SBM application portal (nmat.nmims.edu / sbm.nmims.edu apply link). Fill the NMIMS application form, upload documents and pay the NMIMS application fee (advertised ~₹2,800–2,900). Submit before the NMIMS deadline.
Step 4 — Prepare for & take NMAT
- Take the NMAT in your chosen slot within the exam window. Your NMAT score is used for shortlisting for NMIMS Mumbai. You may be allowed multiple attempts per NMAT window (check current NMAT attempt rules on the official NMAT page).
Step 5 — Shortlisting by NMIMS (based on NMAT + profile)
- NMIMS shortlists candidates for the second stage (competency test / written test / case discussion) and PI. Shortlist announcements / dates will appear on the NMIMS portal.
Step 6 — Second stage: competency test / GD / PI
- Attend the competency test and PI as scheduled (these are generally held campus-wise / online depending on the cycle). The second-stage assesses domain knowledge, communication, problem solving and fit.
Step 7 — Final merit list & offer
- NMIMS prepares a final merit list (weighted combination of NMAT score, second stage test, PI, past academics, work experience). If selected, you’ll receive an offer (login to portal / email).
Step 8 — Payment & document verification
- Pay the admission acceptance / registration fee and complete document verification (degree certificates, mark sheets, DOB proof, caste/EWS certificates where applicable, work-experience letters). Follow NMIMS instructions for original verification and hostel applications if required.
Step 9 — Join the programme
- After fee payment and verification, you’ll get onboarding details (orientation, timetable, start date). Historically semester/session begins around June; confirm for 2026 on your admission letter/portal.
