Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programs. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School – national or international – can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. It is conducted 4 times a year, on the first Sunday of February, May, September, and December.
It is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. MAT consists of 200 questions to be answered in 150 Minutes. Each question has 4 options. 1/4th mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. Is there any difference between the Computer Based Test and Paper Based Test?
Computer Based Test means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate submits the answers through the use of keyboard or mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer.
This is unlike the Paper Based Test, which is generally offered on a single day to all candidates. MAT is offered over a period of time and the candidate can choose the center, the day and time of his/her convenience to take the test. Computer Based Test assumes that the candidate has a basic familiarity with the use of computers like use of keyboard and mouse operation.
